Spring Cleaning Solutions: Our Favorite Spring Cleaning DIYs for Greater Ease of Cleaning

To ensure your spring cleaning goes on without a hitch, we have gathered together a collection of our favorite all-natural cleaning DIY projects in order to ensure you’re cleaning efficiently without putting harmful chemicals into your air and on your surfaces.

 

DIY Laundry Scent Beads

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • Combine 2 cups of the salt with about 30 drops of Essential Oil in a mason jar
  • Wait at least 20 minutes before using for the first time
  • Shake before each use and sprinkle a little over a load of laundry in the washing machine

Notes:

  • You must use this salt as it is the only salt that is gentle enough for your clothes. It acts as a softener for your clothes and will naturally get rid of odors.

 

DIY Linen Spray

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • Add the Vodka/Rubbing Alcohol to the spray bottle
  • Add Essential Oils (you can substitute if you have a different preference)
  • Top off with distilled/filtered water
  • Spray on your linens or furniture to freshen them up

Notes:

  • Your spray bottle should be glass or PET plastic.
  • This is best if used within a couple months.

 

DIY Disinfecting Wipes

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients into the glass jar
  • Add cleaning rags to the mixture and push them in to absorb all liquid
  • Shake and let sit to absorb for a bit
  • Use for cleaning and disinfecting counters and other surfaces

Notes:

  • If you have a lot of rags, you may have to top it up with more solution.
  • Best used within a month.

 

DIY All-Natural, All-Purpose Cleaner

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients together into the spray bottle
  • Shake well before each use
  • Spray onto a surface, let sit for a bit, and then wipe off

Notes:

  • The water must be distilled or boiled and cooled to avoid bacteria growth.
  • It’s best to sterilize the glass bottle before using.
  • Use glass or PET plastic only.
  • Don’t add the essential oils to hot water.
  • Avoid using it on marble because the vinegar can erode it.
  • Try to use it within a couple months.

 

DIY Aromatherapy Shower Mist

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • Combine witch hazel and 8-10 drops of Essential Oil in the spray bottle
  • Top up with distilled water
  • Put the spray top on and shake to mix
  • To use, wait until the bathroom is steamy then shake the bottle and spray liberally in the shower before you get in

Notes:

  • Use glass or PET plastic only.
  • Water must be distilled or boiled and cooled to avoid bacteria growth.
  • Optional: Add dried flowers and a label.
  • This can also be used as a general room freshener, to freshen your pillow, as a yoga mat cleaner, and more.
  • Try to use it within a couple months.

 

DIY Self-Cleaning Toilet Bombs

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • Combine baking soda and citric acid into a mixing bowl
  • Add the essential oils and mix well
  • In a separate small bowl, mix the vinegar and hydrogen peroxide
  • Add a very small amount of the wet mixture in to the dry mixture and mix together
  • Keep adding small amounts until the mixture feels like slightly damp sand, clumps when squeezed into a ball, but also breaks apart easily
  • Scoop the mixture into the molds and press firmly
  • Let dry overnight or up to 2-3 days
  • Once completely dry, remove from the mold and store in an airtight container
  • To use, drop 1-2 tablets in the toilet bowl, let fizz and soak for a few minutes, clean inside the bowl with a scrub brush, then flush

 

DIY Wood Furniture Spray

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients to the bottle and top it up with distilled water
  • Shake and use to clean wood furniture

Notes:

  • Best used within a month.

 

DIY Window Cleaner

Ingredients:

  • 24 oz Spray Bottle
  • ⅓ cup White Vinegar
  • 1 pinch Cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp Rubbing Alcohol

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients to the bottle and top it up with distilled water
  • Shake and use to clean windows or glass

Notes:

  • Best used within a month.

 

DIY Room Spray

Ingredients:

  • Shake and spray around a room to use

Notes:
