Tobacco Absolute was introduced by Christopher Columbus on his first Voyage to the "New World". The natives of Hispaniola called this plant Tobacco. Nicotiana tabacum was considered a decorative plant at first before it became a tobacco plant. The leaf was a popular pest control method up to the beginning of the 20th century.
Tobacco has a history that goes back thousands of years, sometimes with other herbs (oils), for ritualistic purposes, healing and purification ceremonies. Also, to induce trance states and visions of consciousness. It was discovered that after the herb dried it became a commercial interest that deleterious effects became widespread.
Nicotiana tabacum is sensitive to temperature, air, ground humidity and the type of land. Almost every part of the plant contains nicotine except the seed. The tobacco leaves can be dried and chewed as an intoxicant.
There are four methods of curing tobacco: air curing, fire curing, flue curing, and sun curing.
Once the tobacco is cured, workers tie it into small bundles of about 20 leaves, called hands, or use a machine to make large blocks, called bales. The hands or bales are aged for one to three years to improve flavor and reduce bitterness.
Tobacco Absolute is soluble in alcohol and only partially soluble in carrier oils.
Please note this absolute may crystallize and thicken when cooled.
Tobacco Absolute is a great addition to cosmetic applications, personal care formulations, soaps, perfumery, incense, and candles
