Laurel Berry Oil

Traditionally crafted for skin that needs deep care and cleansing

Laurel Berry Oil is a rare, aromatic oil made from the berries of the Laurus nobilis shrub, native to the Mediterranean region—especially in areas like Greece and Turkey. For generations, this oil has been treasured for its skin-supportive properties and is best known as the star ingredient in traditional Aleppo soap.

Unlike Laurel Leaf Essential Oil, which is steam distilled from the plant’s leaves, Laurel Berry Oil is produced through a centuries-old, labor-intensive method. Hand-harvested berries are carefully boiled until the seeds and pulp separate, allowing the nutrient-rich oil to rise to the surface. It’s then gently skimmed and filtered—preserving its thick texture, deep green hue, and smoky, herbal aroma. This time-honored process not only protects the oil’s natural benefits but also provides vital income for the rural communities who produce it.

Because of its high content of unsaponifiables, Laurel Berry Oil is more opaque, aromatic, and viscous than most carrier oils. It also naturally solidifies at cooler temperatures (below 50°F or 10°C), which is a normal and reversible sign of its purity.

Why We Love It:

  • Rich in lauric acid, ideal for acne-prone or dry, irritated skin
  • Traditionally supportive for eczema, psoriasis, and fungal-related concerns
  • Often used in massage blends to ease sore muscles and stiff joints
  • Nourishes and protects dry scalps and brittle hair
  • A go-to base for Aleppo-style soap, salves, balms, and natural cleansers

Suggested Uses:

  • Blend into soaps, creams, shampoos, and massage oils
  • Use as a base oil in salves or scalp treatments
  • Combine with olive or jojoba oil for a skin-nourishing body or facial oil
  • Gently warm the bottle if solidified before use

NOTE: Laurel Berry Oil has a distinctive, smoky scent and may not be ideal for those sensitive to strong natural aromas. Always perform a patch test before first use.

I thought it would be a fruity smell, but i'm pleasantly surprised by the woodsy/earthy scent. It did take time to get used to the smell and now i love it!

so far it has helped my eczema but the smell is so powerful and not in a good way. It does not smell good at all and it's very strong. it's a very thick oil so it confused me when I got it. it works well if you can get past the smell.

I have had great success mixing laurel berry oil and castor oil for muscle pain (laurel berry oil) and joint/arthritis pain (castor oil). I use it with and without essential oils added. really nice results. I am taking much less ibuprofen...better for my stomach and liver.
