Tobacco (Nicotine Free)

Tobacco Absolute

Scientific name: Nicotiana tabacum

Oil origin: Leaves

Extraction: Solvent Extraction

Aroma: Herbaceous, rich

Odor strength: High, Strong

Evaporation: Base note

Origin: Bulgaria

Tobacco Absolute was introduced by Christopher Columbus on his first Voyage to the "New World". The natives of Hispaniola called this plant Tobacco. Nicotiana tabacum was considered a decorative plant at first before it became a tobacco plant. The leaf was a popular pest control method up to the beginning of the 20th century.

Tobacco has a history that goes back thousands of years, sometimes with other herbs (oils), for ritualistic purposes, healing and purification ceremonies. Also, to induce trance states and visions of consciousness. It was discovered that after the herb dried it became a commercial interest that deleterious effects became widespread.

Nicotiana tabacum is sensitive to temperature, air, ground humidity and the type of land. Almost every part of the plant contains nicotine except the seed. The tobacco leaves can be dried and chewed as an intoxicant.

There are four methods of curing tobacco: air curing, fire curing, flue curing, and sun curing.

Once the tobacco is cured, workers tie it into small bundles of about 20 leaves, called hands, or use a machine to make large blocks, called bales. The hands or bales are aged for one to three years to improve flavor and reduce bitterness.

Tobacco Absolute is soluble in alcohol and only partially soluble in carrier oils.
Please note this absolute may crystallize
 and thicken when cooled.

Tobacco Absolute is a great addition to cosmetic applications, personal care formulations, soaps, perfumery, incense, and candles

This oil is not a real strong smell which is great and I am using it to help my husband stop smoking along with black pepper oil.

Never knew of such an oil

This oil is very gummy and sticky, and will require heating up the bottle in a glass of hot water to get some out of the bottle. It’s a strong and deep fragrance that can add depth to a blend. Seemed to emulsify with witch hazel, but the solution was still rather sticky.

This aroma reminds me of an old country-store. Leathery and woodsy-like. It is very viscous, I used a toothpick to break it apart in my diffuser, mixed with Peru Balsam. Ahhhh. It smelled like visits past.

I gave it to my son who smokes, so when he decided to quit smoking he'd have the tools he needed already -right there. He's been talking about quitting a lot lately, this is something THEY have to do on their own. He know Essential Oils work. He just has to put the two together. He will.

Interesting aroma with hint of dark chocolate.

This oil is very thick. I recommend removing the euro dropper all together and just pouring as needed because it will not come out of the dropper. :)
