DIY Christmas Diffuser Ornaments: A Simple, Scented Holiday Ritual

DIY Christmas Diffuser Ornaments: A Simple, Scented Holiday Ritual

The holidays have a way of asking a lot of us. More gatherings. More to-do lists. More noise.

This DIY is an invitation to slow down—just enough—to make something with your hands, fill your home with uplifting aroma, and create a ritual that lasts all season.

These homemade diffuser ornaments are simple, beautiful, and functional. They look sweet on the tree, smell incredible, and can be refreshed again and again with your favorite Jade Bloom essential oils.

Whether you make them with family, friends, or during a quiet afternoon alone, this is one of those projects that instantly feels like the holidays.

Why Diffuser Ornaments?

Diffuser ornaments are a natural way to scent your home without heat, plugs, or flames. Made from a simple baking soda dough, they gently absorb essential oils and slowly release aroma into the space around them.

They’re especially perfect for:

  • Holiday trees

  • Garlands & wreaths

  • Gift toppers

  • Stocking stuffers

  • Cozy corners that need a little seasonal magic

And unlike store-bought scented ornaments, you control exactly what goes into them.

What You’ll Need

How to Make Your Diffuser Ornaments

  1. Create the Dough
In a pot over medium-low heat, mix the baking soda and cornstarch together. Slowly add the water, stirring continuously until a thick, dough-like mixture forms.

  2. Cool & Knead
Remove from heat and allow the dough to cool slightly. Transfer it to parchment paper and knead until smooth. If it feels crumbly, add a tiny bit of water.

  3. Roll & Cut
Flatten the dough evenly, then use cookie cutters or molds to create your ornament shapes.

  4. Add Details
Use stamps to press designs into the dough, or leave them smooth for a minimalist look.

  5. Air Dry
Let the ornaments air dry completely. This can take 24–48 hours depending on thickness.

  6. Add Ribbon
Once dry, thread ribbon or string through and tie for hanging.

Scenting Your Ornaments

Once your ornaments are fully dry, it’s time for the best part: scenting them.

Add a few drops of your favorite Jade Bloom essential oil directly onto the ornament. For the holidays, we love using the Christmas Tree Blend—it instantly brings that fresh, evergreen feeling into the room.

Hang the scented ornaments around your tree, tuck them into garlands, or place them near entryways. When the scent fades, simply add a few more drops to refresh.
