MEET OUR YOGA INSTRUCTOR:
Rachel Baker has over 10 years experience as a yoga instructor in the spa and wellness industry. She is a life-long learner and has enjoyed experiencing and learning about different types of yoga for over a decade. Rachel is passionate about creating wellness and yoga practices that can be applicable to the individual needs of her students. She believes that yoga is a form of therapy, which can not only break down personal barriers and develop healing but that can also build community and consciousness. Rachel loves teaching a hatha blend with elements of yin yoga. Her class is perfect for all level of students.
"Someone once asked me how I could do yoga in separation from Eastern mysticism. Not really sure how to respond I stammered and tried to explain how wonderful yoga is, and how it brought me through a very dark place in my life, how it was daily healing my body from a ten-year-old car accident which left my neck in excruciating levels of pain, how after a deep yoga practice I was left with a clear mind a clear intentions for my day.
My point was: Yoga is not a religion or dogma. Yoga is a lifestyle of getting in tune with oneself and yoga is medicine.
Maybe I got the message across, maybe I didn’t.
Either way that’s okay, since that encounter my purpose as a yoga teacher has been to share the incredible benefits yoga has to offer everybody and every body. Pain, depression, weight loss, there is a yoga for you.
I graduated from Cloud Nine Yoga School in 2008 and began teaching almost immediately. I have incredible students all over the spectrum, young and older bodies with all sorts of histories and backgrounds. I am passionate about giving the gift of yoga to those around me. I am a passionate and playful teacher and believe in the body’s capability to heal itself through intentional movement. I have experienced yoga’s benefits firsthand and see both the physical and mental practice of yoga as channels to change one’s life for the better. My goal is to share the joy of yoga with each of my students, to teach them how to better enjoy their bodies and calm their spirit."
