In April 2013, Steve and Hope Dezember attended a Michael Franti & Spearhead concert as Steve faced the late stages of ALS. Michael invited them on stage, and though Steve could barely move, Hope lifted him from his wheelchair. They danced—wrapped in each other’s arms—before 20,000 people. That night, Michael and Sara found their shared mission.
