Roman chamomile is an evergreen perennial plant from the Asteracea family, also known as the daisy or aster family. A few of the many names for Roman chamomile are English chamomile, mother’s daisy, earth-apple, or ground apple because of the apple-like scent. Roman chamomile is native to Europe, Africa, and Asia. Roman chamomile is most known for the popular Chamomile Tea which has historically been used as a tonic and an
antiseptic since the Middle Ages. It has been used for over 2,000 years for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibacterial, antioxidant, and relaxing effects. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) associates chamomile with the wood element, the liver and gallbladder meridians, and their related organs. In 16th century England, chamomile was listed in the pharmacopoeia of Würtenberg as a carminative, painkiller, diuretic, and digestive aid. Roman Chamomile Essential Oil is generally considered to be the gentler of the chamomile oils which makes it ideal for use with young children.
Roman Chamomile is a good choice for many applications intended for mood, sleep, nervous, musculoskeletal, digestive, reproductive, skin, immune, and women’s conditions.

Please note: 4% is the maximum dermal use level recommended. Use in low concentrations. Patch test first and use with caution if allergic to Ragweed or plants from the Asteracea (Compositea) plant family.

Roman vs. German Chamomile - What the Difference?
Two of the most gentle, non-toxic, non-irritating essential oils, with Roman chamomile being widely considered the more gentle chamomile oil for use with young children.
Roman chamomile is an evergreen perennial plant while German chamomile is an annual plant and both come from different genus and species.
Roman chamomile’s aroma is crisp, sweet, fruity, apple-like and herbaceous, and German chamomile’s aroma is deep, sweet, herbaceous, and grassy. They create a wonderful synergy with each other and are often used interchangeably. They have markedly different chemical components and can be used for different applications. Both are good choices for applications intended for mood, nervous, musculoskeletal, digestive, immune, skin, and women’s conditions. German chamomile is blue colored because of the chemical constituent, chamazulene, and is also a good choice for applications intended for lymphatic, respiratory, urinary, and circulatory conditions.

I am excited to finally have purchased Roman Chamomile. I haven't yet used it yet, except 1 night in my diffuser. It was very nice. I have been researching ways to use it and am looking forward to making some blends with RC. Thanks JB for another awesome Essential Oil!
